For 40 years, natural history author, communicator, and speaker Paul Erickson has shared his adventures around the world with audiences of all ages. He initiates conversations that reconnect people with nature through lifelong learning.

During his colorful, entertaining presentations, Paul blends his photography, artwork and video with the music of Debussy and other classical composers. The music was recorded live by world-renowned concert organist David Briggs at Paul Erickson Studios.

DAZZLE: How Nature Uses Color to Attract, Repel, Disguise, and Fool

This live show takes you on an entertaining 45-minute visual journey from nearby gardens and woodlands to distant coral reefs and deserts, orchestrated to some of the world’s greatest musical compositions. See how a fantastic diversity of living things around the world use millions of colors to attract, warn, confuse, and fool. Designed for ages 12—adult.

Bio

Trained in biology, natural history author, communicator, and photographer Paul Erickson worked at the New England Aquarium for 26 years. He also served as an on-camera correspondent for ABC’s Good Morning America, WBZ-TV’s Eyewitness News and Evening Magazine, Westinghouse Broadcasting’s Superkids with Tom Bergeron, and the Comcast Network’s Nitebeat with Barry Nolan.

During his diving adventures, Paul has photographed underwater habitats in the Red Sea, Solomon Islands, Fiji, Belize, the Philippines, New England and Loch Ness, Scotland.

His latest books published by Tilbury House are Don’t Mess With Me: The Strange Lives of Venomous Sea Creatures and The Pier at the End of the World, which won a National Science Teachers Association K-12 Outstanding Science Tradebook Award for 2016 and a 2015 Skipping Stones Magazine Honor Award. Also, he co-authored Dive to the Coral Reefs—a PBS Reading Rainbow selection.
